"This week..."

A museum occupies a special place in the history, and the reasons are as obvious as anyone can surmise. If the museum is an industrial museum, then that will be more dearer to engineers and for the people from either technical or science background. Not to mention, the nostalgia that generates in the person, when he visits the industrial musuem, remembering his lessons from his school days, and living his childhood days for a while. And this weekend has given me the feeling that is more than what i can express here.

It is called Vishweshwaraya Industrial Musuem, situated at the central location in bangalore. When we, four of us, started for the musuem we have thought that we can complete it in a couple of hours and can come back and sink in our regular chores of life. But then, it has taken a good five to six hours going through the three floors of the musuem, which has separate dedicated sections on each of the left and right wing of the floor. Guess, what can be the first of the model that we have seen at the musuem?? It is the working model of a dinosaur. "Well done !! " might be less to appreciate that, as you stand before it facing into its face, fear will comes out of you. May be sure for weak hearts !!

There are dedicated sections, with a theme on the topics as mechanical engines, basic science principles, bio technology, electronics, computing, fun science and so. We have enjoyed the most in the fun science section, as some of the models have caught our imagination and we lost in astonishment. That's the section on illusion for you. Not to worry as your section will be there, either you are from any specialisation in this industrialised world.

However, wherever we go it is usual that we see some negative aspects in the things. And the musuem is no exception. Here are some observations. Yes, the renovation work is going on, though at snails speed and it needs that very badly. Maintenance is not at all proper. The most striking one is the lighting factor. It is a common expectation that you want proper lighting on the model to see it very clear, unfortunately it is not observed there. And though every model is designed as a working model, some are not working and its not a small number to forgive. Lets hope the maintenance authority hears this !!

I personally believe that i will go to the musuem again to relive my childhood days. And i believe my dear friends with whom i have been there will also agree. Given an option of going to the musuem, dont forgo it.

Adieu till the next post. !! Good luck !!
