" The 'Companies' that are making news... "

Whenever i read a newspaper, i come across so many news (obviously... ha ha) that i try to comprehend them and meanwhile a crazy idea peeped into my mind. Its just that i want to list all the companies that i come across in todays economic times newspaper. The logic here is that these are the companies which are making news, and if we know the names of these companies and to which sector they belong to, i guess we are half way through in recollecting the news. On the same lines, if we concentrate on the persons, and the relations that they have in the political scenario and make a list of that, i guess we are again half done in comprehending the news. As we can make up the story ones the major role players are in place, it is better to concentrate on them first. Dont you agree with me? Well, this post can be a bit longer as i will list all the companies together that i get in an article and i will write a small note why these companies are mentioned together. Lets see the list...
  • Cadbury India- Bytes, Procter & Gamble- InnoCentive, ITC - Kitchen's of India and Tata Motors- Ace ( The article discuss about the innovation's role in the company and the examples are as above list. They are the result of out of the box thinking !! )
  • Yale Graduate, Goldman Sachs, Genpact, Electrolux, Reliance, GE, DBS Cholamandalam, American Express, Bharti Televentures, ABB, Sterlite Group, Egon Zehnder International. (These are in the article that discusses about the rising of Indian companies and the top executives opting for the indian MNCs against foreign MNCs)
  • Kingfisher- UB Group, Jet, Indian, Air Sahara. ( Appeared in the article discussing about the competition in Indian skies moving from cost to luxury)
  • Korea Yakult Co., LG, Samsung, Hyundai, Capital Foods Mumbai-based, CJ Corporation, Brand name Paldo. (Foreign food companies seek india foray)
  • Nike, Liberty, Reebok ( About Nike going for JV in India to supply for global mkt)
  • Great Eastern Energy Corporation, Noida Toll Bridge Company, IL&FS Investment, and Assam Company. (In article ' Growing cos look at Alternative Investment Market(AIM) for raising capital abroad)
  • UPS and FedEx ( In article 'India shines on Logistics radar')
  • N M Virani Hospital, Paras Pharmaceuticals, Unity Hospitals, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, Apollo Hospitals. (In the article discussing the pharma cos taking equity in hospitals)
  • Ma Foi Global Search, iGate, CSS Group, Satyam, Progeon. ( Talking about the Just-In-Time Bench Management)
  • Pantaloons- futurebazaar.com, Shoppers' Stop, Globus, Zodiac- zodiaconline.com, ITCs Wills Lifestyle. ( About retail chains to set up 'e-tail' portals)
  • Cox and Kings, SOTC, Singapore Tourism Board, Dinks ( Double income no kids couples), Malaysian tourism. (In ' Tour Operators Offer Dinks Exotic Weekend Getaways)
  • E-Infochips ... A chip design service provider ( Its expansion plans) Clients include... Agere, TI, Broadcom, Novionics.
  • Hyderabad's Cosy Homes, Bangalore's Blue Chip Guest Houses, Chennai's Arunachalam Inns. (About serviced apartments in high demand with biz travellers)

As such the list is not exhaustive as i left many companies which are the only ones discussed in any of the articles. I believe that by listing the companies for a few days, we can come up with the companies which are making news regularly and so we can expect part of the news to come up. Most important of all, this is one of the way to read the trend.

Till i come up with the next post, Good Luck to you all. !

"Improving..."

Hi all,
Yes, this time i'm improving. And i'm improving in playing better table tennis. Once i have purchased the butterfly racket to play table tennis, i have started playing it daily. To my surprise, may be due to my racket, i'm playing well and picking up the game well. I love my racket and its so flexible that i'm loving to play tennis with that everyday.

Well, i'm reading through some economics stuff and its taking away my day. I come across many things in today's reading. However, the more striking one is the India's lack in the very important factor in any one's economy 'Infrastructure'. I beg to ask all our previous leaders, why they havenot concentrated well on this aspect. If our infrastructure, both economic and social, have been good, our India must have occupied a different place in present day world. No matter what has happened till now, we, the young people of india are there to make that dream of India becoming the next big thing in the world. I hope everyone reading this pledge so.

Today there is lot to do before going to bed. Taking leave for now. bye. Good Luck.

"This week..."

A museum occupies a special place in the history, and the reasons are as obvious as anyone can surmise. If the museum is an industrial museum, then that will be more dearer to engineers and for the people from either technical or science background. Not to mention, the nostalgia that generates in the person, when he visits the industrial musuem, remembering his lessons from his school days, and living his childhood days for a while. And this weekend has given me the feeling that is more than what i can express here.

It is called Vishweshwaraya Industrial Musuem, situated at the central location in bangalore. When we, four of us, started for the musuem we have thought that we can complete it in a couple of hours and can come back and sink in our regular chores of life. But then, it has taken a good five to six hours going through the three floors of the musuem, which has separate dedicated sections on each of the left and right wing of the floor. Guess, what can be the first of the model that we have seen at the musuem?? It is the working model of a dinosaur. "Well done !! " might be less to appreciate that, as you stand before it facing into its face, fear will comes out of you. May be sure for weak hearts !!

There are dedicated sections, with a theme on the topics as mechanical engines, basic science principles, bio technology, electronics, computing, fun science and so. We have enjoyed the most in the fun science section, as some of the models have caught our imagination and we lost in astonishment. That's the section on illusion for you. Not to worry as your section will be there, either you are from any specialisation in this industrialised world.

However, wherever we go it is usual that we see some negative aspects in the things. And the musuem is no exception. Here are some observations. Yes, the renovation work is going on, though at snails speed and it needs that very badly. Maintenance is not at all proper. The most striking one is the lighting factor. It is a common expectation that you want proper lighting on the model to see it very clear, unfortunately it is not observed there. And though every model is designed as a working model, some are not working and its not a small number to forgive. Lets hope the maintenance authority hears this !!

I personally believe that i will go to the musuem again to relive my childhood days. And i believe my dear friends with whom i have been there will also agree. Given an option of going to the musuem, dont forgo it.

Adieu till the next post. !! Good luck !!

Though it is after many days that i'm penning for another article, i feel as if i'm writing an article everyday. I think for a good article, a good topic to write on everday and end up in procrastinating the task as i feel either it may not be the correct topic or that i'm not prepared for writing one. Without making any further delays, here we have another article to enthuse on.

Before proceeding ahead, here is the description that i can give for the picture i selected for this article : " The deer is determined enough to cross the sea eventhough it is miles far away. He knows that he will get drown in the sea if he donot maintain the speed, the lightness of his body, the swing with which he moves around. With crystal clear concentration and hard rock like perseverance he is crossing the sea and reaching his destiny. He takes pleasure in doing that and this is a great inspiration to believe that 'If the destiny is clear, then the path will be as clear as that. With proper inputs, we can achieve anything in this world'.

For the last two weeks, there are many news stories around the much talked topic of capital account convertibility, in other words about the full convertibility of rupee. I would like to put down what i understood on this topic. Worldwide, there are only a few currencies like dollar, euro, yen and so that has the full convertibility. What does that mean to us is ... in those countries where this is implemented, we can purchase goods in any currency which is strong/ which gives us a bit of profit. On a macro economic level, this step may have many implications and in our economy effecting the home grown business through imports and exports, the banks and the financial institutions. Some argue this has to be done to open up our indian market to every one in the world, and some refute to this by showing the headblocks that we may come across. The IT industry which gets most of its revenue by servicing the US clients, can have an impact in their balance sheets based on the rupee dollar conversion value. If the rupee is strong, then the profit will decrease and vice versa. No idea has formed in my mind whether full capital account convertibility should be opted for or not !!

The other day, we started for nandi hills early in the morning at 4 AM to see the picturisque sunrise. It is at 60Km odd distance away from bangalore and we enjoyed the journey on two bikes, savouring the morning fresh air. The curves of the road are so enticing that you love to drive the bike. As we climb the hill,we feel that we are in the lap of the nature. By the time we are on top of hill, the only task that is left before us is to explore it till we are tired. After digging deep in looking at all the places there, we are back on our return journey by 11AM and have had a great lunch at bangalore. It is a great break on a weekend !! dont miss the chance to go to nandi hills, if you are given one !!

Adieu for now !! Meet you all in another post.
