Distance Education......

Everyone must have seen people who get into jobs, even though they are interested in pursuing higher education, for one or other reason and the job must have taken the highest priority at that time. Then, they will come to realise the real meaning of 'distance education', though they must have heard about it many times. It is the way to say that they are not going to stop learning the academic way. As learning is two way, one - theoretical and other - practical, the distance education will keep them in touch with the theoretical approach. Nevertheless, people who read regularly, who yearn for new things doesnt need the 'distance education' approach. The only difference being that you are not being graded or certified for the knowledge/awareness that you acquire.

Well, i've couple of questions regarding the distance education. In Indian context, there are good number of universities which offer distance education courses, however the number of universities which offer quality education with focus is very less... which we can count on fingers. As the demand for IT courses have increased owing to the demand of IT professionals by the job market, there are many people who look for IT courses like PGDCA, MCA and so.

What do you say, which one is better - MCA from IGNOU or MCA from ICFAI? I've some parameters which can be used while apply for distance learning program.
(i)Course Fee/Duration
(ii)Is the university recognised by companies that you will be looking at after completing your course.
(iii)Vastness of Curriculum
(iv)Any support that you will receive from professors/study centers in distance learning mode, while learning new subjects.
(v)Is the location of the study center convenient to you, if in case there is a need for you to go to study center it will be the real pinch, when you consider that you will be going to your work.
(vi)The grades that they have awarded for earlier batches. I've seen some universities which donot award proper grade, even though you write well. Is it liberal in giving grades or not>

And so the list goes....

I wish i see many people enrolling in distance learning courses and keep adding new skills to their skill set>
